Dushanzi Canyon to Jinghe
Route: Urumqi to Dushanzi Grand Canyon to Jinghe or Tuotuo
Leave the capital for the western Tianshan, stopping at Dushanzi Grand Canyon before the overnight near Jinghe.
Sayram Lake to Yining
Route: Jinghe to Sayram Lake to Yining
Circle Sayram Lake at an unhurried pace, then descend into the Ili Valley for the evening in Yining.
Kalajun to Tekes
Route: Yining to Kalajun Grassland to Tekes
Spend the day in the Kalajun grassland landscape before reaching Tekes, known for its radial street plan.
Tekes to Nalati
Route: Tekes to Nalati Air Grassland to Nalati
Continue across the Ili interior to Nalati, allowing the grassland visit to follow the local weather.
Tangbula to Kuitun
Route: Nalati to northern Duku Highway to Tangbula to Kuitun
Use the northern Duku Highway only if it is operating, with Tangbula and the return road confirmed close to departure.
